Basque cheesecake originates from San Sebastian, in the Basque region of Spain, so of course this story starts in Tokyo with my wife getting the last slice of chocolate cake, and me trying the most delicious-looking slice of cheesecake I had ever seen. A slice of Basque cheesecake. Simply out of curiosity and a lack of chocolate cake, I randomly ate something that would change my life.
